Yukinosei Japanese Windflower We just love these ephemeral wood anemones, seeing carpets of these in early spring is surely as site. They may be fleeting, that is, coming up early in the season and going dormant as summer commences, but they are oh so beautiful. This is a rare double white form from Japan with large flowers that resemble chrysanthemums. Yuki-no-sei’ means ‘fairy of snow’. Spreads modestly by underground runners, making a nice patch over time, but not invasive. Moist woodland soil is fine. Does not like soggy soil though. Limited. Zone 5 hardy
