Dramatic Chinese species with an incredibly gorgeous spathe hood. Makes enormous trifoliate leaves (over 1′ in mature plants), and bears a very similar appearance to A. candidissimum at first glance. The remarkable purple and white striped spathe hood is quite distinct. A late spring/early summer riser and can take more sun as is the case with A. candidissimum. The flowers are held below the foliage. Section Franchetiana. Zones 5-10. Protection in zone 5 is advised.
