Easy to grow species from the Japanese woodlands, that looks remarkably like the Chinese variety Arisaema amurense. Meaning it has the same 5 leaves on one stem. The major difference is ovale lacks the serration on the edge of the leaves. It is somewhat early to rise and can take full sun early in the year. Very hardy, easy, and cold tolerant, once established can make a very tight clump of offsets. Very charming and a good doer, but as with all Asian plants prefers good drainage for persistence.
