Yellow Wax Bells are certainly a plant that needs to be more widely appreciated. Given time and slightly acidic woodland soil it will grow to shrub like proportions. Appreciated not only for the wonderful deep green maple like leaves, it also boasts clusters of nodding yellow bell like flowers in late summer. Mature specimens can take on epic size, 4′ wide and tall. Best use is in the woodland garden with hostas, ferns, and other late bloomers. Consistently moist well drained site is best. Feed the soil well and you’ll be rewarded, truly a must have plant.
