Hard to keep from gushing over and over while writing these martagon descriptions, but honestly these are some darn good garden plants. They do take time to get established, may take a year to get those perennial roots regrown (which has led to them being know to sulk for a year), but once they start clumping up and having multiple stems… they are breathtaking. They deserve all the time amending the soil, feeding the soil and giving them proper lily care, ie… good drainage and some sun, not full dark shade. Ok, back to Maroon King. Very light pinkish cream buds open into deep marooon flowers with spotting and halos. The stems on ‘Maroon King’ are a rich healthy green and contrast nicely with the flowers. Its a super great lily. 4’+ (when mature), zone 2-7
